Connecting to Redshift

Abstract

SummaryHow to specify your Redshift cluster information so Alooma can connect.

Once you've granted access to your Redshift, you'll need to indicate the cluster information for Alooma to connect to.

  1. Click on the Output node of the Plumbing page.

  2. If not selected, choose the Settings tab.

  3. Fill out the connection information:

    • The host (endpoint)

    • Default schema name (alooma if you followed the optional step during granting access, though you'll be able to choose to map to any other schema we have access to)

    • Database name

    • Username (alooma if you followed the optional step during granting access)

    • Password

    • Port (the same one you used when creating the cluster, the default is 5439)

You'll find all the needed information (except, of course, the password) in the Cluster Details page in Redshift.

  4. If your Redshift cluster is behind an SSH server you can connect to Redshift via SSH.

  5. You can choose not to validate the Redshift settings and save them regardless of their validity by checking the "do not validate" option (not recommended).

  6. Save the changes.

If your Redshift connection is unsuccessful you will be notified in the notification pane of the Dashboard screen.

That's it! You've created a Redshift output. Alooma can now connect to your target Redshift cluster.
