Trello Integration via REST API

This article describes how to get your Trello information into your data destination via a REST API input. In order to authenticate and retrieve your Trello data, you will need the following:

  • Application Key

  • Token

  • Board ID

See this link for instructions about how to get that information.

Creating the Input
  1. From the Plumbing page, select Add new input.

  2. Select REST API from the list of inputs.

  3. Enter a name for the input. We’ll use the input name in the UI and to name the events that come from this input. Note that after creation, the input name cannot be changed.

  4. Enter your Trello API URL and leave the HTTP method as GET. The Trello URL includes the ID for your Trello board. Do not specify a username/password. Leave Pagination as "None". For our example, we'll use the following url: https://api.trello.com/1/board/<Board ID>/cards

  5. Enter the following URL Parameters and values:

    URL Parameter

    Value

    Type

    token

    <your token>

    text

    key

    <your key>

    text

    filter

    open

    text

    fields

    id,name,labels,dateLastActivity,due

    text

    The parameters we used in the example will return all of the open cards in the board specified in the URL. For each card, the following fields are included: id, name, labels, dateLastActivity, and due. See the Trello API documentation for more information.

  6. Leave Data Field blank.

  7. Click Create Input.

And that's it. You've created your Trello input. It should look something like this:
