IBM Db2 Integration

Alooma can replicate tables from your IBM Db2 server to your target data warehouse in near real time.

This enables you to, for example, enrich your analytics data coming from your mobile devices with user attributes stored in your IBM Db2 database.

Alooma uses incremental replication for Db2 databases.

Integrating your IBM Db2 database with Alooma is easy:

  1. How do you want to connect to Alooma? If it's via an SSH server, check out how to connect via SSH. Otherwise, you'll need to whitelist access to Alooma's IP addresses:

    • 52.35.19.31/32

    • 52.88.52.130/32

    • 52.26.47.1/32

    • 52.24.172.83/32

  2. From the Plumbing screen, click Add new input. Select IBM Db2 from the list of inputs.

  3. Name your IBM Db2 input.

  4. Select the destination schema. This is the schema where you’d like Alooma to create the tables for this input in your data warehouse.

  5. Enter the following information:

    • Hostname of the IBM Db2 server (default port is 50000)

    • Username and password

    • Database name

  6. If your IBM Db2 server is behind an SSH server you can connect to it via SSH.

  7. Click Connect to continue.

  8. Select the tables you want to replicate. For each table, specify the Update Indicator Column and Primary Key. You can add as many tables as you need.

    Note

You should also index the indicator columns. Follow the instructions for creating an index here.

Q: What happens to data already replicated when a user removes a table from the list of tables to replicate?

A: Nothing. The data remains in the data destination.

Q: What happens when user adds a table to the list of tables to replicate?

A: Alooma will start replicating it, including its historical data.

  9. Keep the mapping mode to the default of OneClick if you'd like Alooma to automatically map all IBM Db2 tables exactly to your data destination. Otherwise, they'll have to be mapped manually from the Mapper screen.

    Note

Alooma maintains three tables in your data destination per each table in IBM Db2.

  10. Click Finish.

That's it! You're done integrating IBM Db2 and Alooma.
